The Massachusetts Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government has held interesting hearings about possible ways to end the dog bite epidemic. Read the article about the hearing.

Unfortunately, the debate is focusing on the wrong solution, namely what to do about the so-called pit bull problem. While carefully tailored restrictions that take into account the problems with some breeds might legitimately be made part of an overall plan to curtail dog bites, a simple ban on one breed will probably not benefit our communities.
